[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:04] Speaker B: City Radio. [00:00:07] Speaker A: Hey. Hey. Back again with Peachtree City Radio, your South Side's number one podcast. I'm your host, TJ McGraw. I'm a local realtor in the area and I started this podcast to really bring our spotlight to local businesses, people in the community, things going on in the community, basically everything happening under the A in Fay county and surrounding area and especially as the name suggests, Peachtree City. So today, cool show today, but before I get into that, I wanted to talk about. I had for. I have two episodes out. This is the third episode, third official full length episode. I kind of caught a little snag and be vulnerable for a minute. I had a couple weeks where I wasn't able to. To put a video out. That's okay. We're back. We're. We got, we reorganized a little bit. I'm going to shorten up the show. It was getting kind of long. I even got a little bored listening to it myself. Don't skip the first two episodes. Go take a look or go take a listen or a look. It's on YouTube as well. But we're shortening things up a little bit. So we're, we're going to start out with like a. A little tip. Whether it's something to do with the Petri City or Fay county insider information or might be some real estate tip, homeowner tip, buying tip, something like that. We're going to start there and then I'm going to mention like one or two things that are going on in and around Peachtree City and then we're going to dive right into the meat of the show, which is, will be feature interviews. Sometimes it might be like a full marker report. I promise that I won't keep it. I'll keep it interesting. We'll keep it short and interesting when they're marker reports and things like that. Basically just a place for a little bit of entertainment, a lot of information and some conversations with some really cool people in the community. So, yeah, that's it. Let's. Let's dig in. Let's start off with, with the tip for, for this week. All right, let's get into the tip of the week. The tip for this week is all Peachtree City residents. If you have a parcel of land or property that is 2 acres or more and you have less than 15% of that property is impermeable, meaning less than 50, 15% is like a driveway or a roof or a structure or something like that. The rest of the 85% has to be permeable ground where stormwater can, you know, soak into, basically. So if you have that 2 acres with 15% or less of impermeable area, you are eligible for a 25% discount on your storm water bill. So that's pretty cool. So let me say that again. 25% discount on your stormwater bill. I'm not sure if I didn't know that. I just kind of learned that today. So go check it out. If you go to, let's see, stormwater [email protected] I think there's more information there. So go check that out. Save yourself 25 on your, your stormwater. Of course, you gotta have two acres, but go check it out. All right. Some things that are going on. So I'm gonna, I. There's so much going on. So I'm just gonna pick my favorite, or this would just be a list of, of activities in, in and around Peachtree City. So my favorite thing coming up starting this month is the Peachtree. Go check that out. If you go to, let's see, it starts on April 17th is the first one. They're gonna have like four, four or five sessions. So go check it out. You can get your tickets if you go to freshticks.com forward/events forward/ptc culinary tour. And I'll have that, I'll have that link in the show notes. So. Because that's kind of a long one. Any questions? Of course, go to sales@Visit peachtreecity.com so go check that out. I'm gonna try to, to drive one of the golf carts. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. So you, maybe you can meet me on one of those days or maybe a couple of those days. So. So it'll be fun. I like getting in there and mixing it up. I do my previous life, before I became a real estate agent, I, I had a, I have a culinary degree and a bachelor's in food and beverage management. So I think I have a little expertise if I was going to, to drive one of those golf carts. So hopefully they'll let me. Maybe they won't. Who knows? We'll give it a shot. We'll see out there. One way or another, I'm either gonna go on it or I'm gonna drive it around. Drive the cart around. We'll see. We'll see what happens. All right, let's get into it. Let's get into the meat of the show. All right, we got a featured interview today. I'm like, I, I'm super excited. This is a. A craze that's sweeping the nation. As they say, if you like pickleball, you. You got to listen to this, to this interview. This is. This is pretty cool. This is something. It's not only new to Peachtree City, but it's. It's kind of a new concept overall. Pickleball, not that it's a brand new sport, but it's kind of. It's gaining more and more popularity. And with that more and more popularity, more and more innovative facilities are. Are popping up. So we got a first of its kind coming to Peachtree City. It's already in the works. That it's. If you've been. If you've driven down 74 lately, you'll know that there's something going on there. Across from the, the soccer fields down there across from. For the Peach City Athletic Complex on the other side of the street. Let's Go Pickleball is coming to town. So today I've got Joe Petta and Donald Young, two of the founders from let's Go Pickleball. And I had a really good time talking to these guys, and it's. It's just super cool to see what they're building down there. It's a. It's more than I thought it was. And getting into the conversation with them, it was just. It was fun learning about it. I'm not. I've never played pickleball, but I can tell you that I'm. I'm really. I'm. I'm gonna. I'm gonna. Especially after this interview. So if you listen to this interview and you've never played pickleball before, you're gonna want to go play pickleball. So start picking out a. A paddle. I made a mistake. I called it a racket. So if you, if all you pickleball players out there, you know what a. What a novice I am or my ignorance to the, to the, to the game. It's called the paddle, everybody. So just, Just so you know, don't. Don't embarrass yourself like I did talking to a pro pickleball player and calling it the paddle a racket. So that's the. That's your second free tip for the day. So enough me rambling on. Let's just, let's hop into the interview. Super fun. Super fun. Joe Paletta and Donald Young from Let's Go Pickleball. All right, I've got. I've got the founders of let's Go Pickleball here on Petri City. Radio. Gentlemen, thank you so much for coming on. Joe Petta, Donald Young, how's it going today? Thanks for your time having us. [00:07:28] Speaker B: That's, that's great. We're excited. [00:07:30] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. I've been looking forward to this. I know Joe, you and I have been talking for a little bit back and forth with text, trying to get this, this locked in. So I'm excited. Been looking forward to it too, for, for quite a while. [00:07:42] Speaker B: Accommodating to us. [00:07:43] Speaker A: Yeah. So let's. So pickleball. Well, let's start before we dive into pickleball, which is, everybody's like just dying to know more about what's going on down there on 74 with the, with the building that's just gotten vertical. Right. So we'll, we'll dig into that a little bit. But let's start with, with you all. So I know Joe, you're realist, commercial real estate. And Donald, you were pro tens player turned pro pickleball player. So who, who wants to go first? Let's start with Donald. I haven't, I haven't talked to you as much as Joe, so why don't you go first. Just give us like a brief background and, and kind of what brought you, what brought you here to Peachtree City? [00:08:21] Speaker C: Yeah, so tennis brought me to Atlanta. I'm originally from Chicago. My parents moved down here for my tennis to help it me more expand, more practice. Chicago, you can only play outside about three months a year. Here it's more 9, 10. It's just better for training. They ran the South Fulton Tennis center in College Park. We ended up moving to Tyrone, which is not that far from Peachtree City. I practiced at the Peachtree City Tennis center. And through my tennis, some opportunities came to play pickleball. In 2022, Connor Pardo, the PPA, the CEO, asked for me to captain a team with three other tennis pros. And I kind of. He asked me did I play. I said I had played. It wasn't true. I had not played at all. So I kind of just told him I had played, so I needed to practice. So in practic, I went out to the Hop, which is in Noonan, and that's where I met Joe and Rich and Barry and all these guys. And they kind of showed me the ropes and they're the first people I ever played with. And it was such a open community that I just instantly fell kind of in love with the game and really enjoyed it. And since then we've like kind of built a connection and Joe was nice enough to invite me with his group to come and play and get a practice. And they were a lot better than me in the beginning. They were beating me pretty bad, which was pretty funny. And I enjoyed it. And I was like, I'm playing with these guys. I'm like, there's no way they should be getting me. This has to be a point where I need to get better. And I got better. And we kind of developed like a friendship and a relationship and through that we talked about indoor facilities and then just everything kind of snowballed from there and like, here we are. [00:09:57] Speaker A: Awesome. And I mean, you kind of glazed over the pro tennis part. I mean, you definitely were, you were no slouch as a, as a pro tennis player. [00:10:05] Speaker C: It depends on who you ask, I guess. [00:10:07] Speaker A: But. [00:10:09] Speaker C: But yeah, no, tennis was great. I was the number one junior in the world when I was 15, turned pro when I was like 14. I was top 100 by the time I was 18. And yeah, I had a good run. I enjoyed it, traveled the world, played the Olympics, did a lot of cool things and stuff I could never imagine as like a 10 year old kid that I would be able to do. [00:10:30] Speaker A: Yeah, well, awesome. Well, we're glad you're here in Petrie City bringing pickleball to the community for sure. Joe, give us yours, give us your rundown. From real estate broker, commercial stuff, to pickleball enthusiast, and now pickleball community builder. [00:10:49] Speaker B: My background is just a little more business. I was in the theater business. I actually still am in the theater business. Own movie theaters, operate movie theaters. And that's what I started doing, doing when I was in high school. And I'd worked my way up through all the ranks and became a divisional manager for a company called Regal Cinemas, which was the largest theater chain at the time. And I decided to get into owning my own theaters back in 2003 and started Spotlight. And I left Regal after 15 years of working with them and started Spotlight Theaters. And that got me into real estate. So the real estate came from negotiating leases with landlords, boards for the theater. And I was looking at the commissions that the, the agents were getting. I'm like, man, I could do that. I'm, I'm doing all the work, right? I'm, I'm going through just as much as they are. And so, you know, being naive of like, you know, I was. So I went out, got my real estate license and hung it with one of the investors that was working with me in the theater business and did a couple deals, was learning commercial real Estate from, from my broker. And as soon as the first came out, I noticed that, you know, half of it went back to the brokerage and I'm like, oh, well, I don't want to be the agent, I want to be the broker. So, so three years later I, I became a broker, started my own firm, it's called the Paleta Group. And that just has gotten me into a bunch of different areas of business. And I, I like to say a widget is a widget. Whether I'm selling a movie ticket, whether I'm selling a, a piece of land, or whether I'm selling a membership to a pickleball club. It's all about relationships, it's all about community build. It's all about the trust that they have that you're going to give them a high quality experience for the money that they're paying you. But I've, I've been a player, tennis player for most of my life, like racquetball. And as I aged I found that, you know, I needed to find something that was a little easier on the body. And I, I got into pickleball through my church and the pastor played and they had people that were playing. So I, my first six months of playing pickleball, I like to call, I play church pickleball. And that's just C ball, hit ball really hard, as much as you can. So one of the, the other members said, hey, let's do a tournament because we thought we were really good. So we get out there and we get destroyed just because, you know, we're totally playing the game, you know, incorrectly. So we're like, all right, let's, let's, let's pay attention to this. And we started studying, we started taking, you know, everything we can off the Internet and learning from it and started getting better and doing well in tournaments. And you know, it kind of grew into, well, you know, we don't really have any high level trainers here in the area for anybody that wants to do tournaments and do high level play. So that, that drove me into wanting to get certified. So I'm ppar certified at their highest level. I just completed their level two as well. So I think we're the second class in the United States to go through that. So through that I was teaching and I was teaching at the hop and that's where I saw Donald. So I saw this guy, we're walking back from one of the lessons and he literally has three balls and he's smacking the crap out of the ball. And after three Then he's walking to the other side of the court, hitting three balls, walking. I'm like, man, that guy can hit. How come I don't know who he is? So we went out there and said, hey, my name's Joe, and I'm Donald. And I didn't know who he was. So we're just sitting out there and like, for the next hour, we're just hitting the ball around, talking about the game and playing. And. And then my. One of my partners, Rich, he said, hey, I think he's a. He's a pro tennis player. So I went home that night and I googled, I'm like, what the heck? I'm like, so. So that learning curve, like, we would show him one thing to do, and it was almost like a straight up curve, right? There was no learning curve. It was just, boom, and he's automatically better than us. So what were you saying? We were whipping up on him for a while. It was such a short amount of time. Yeah, yeah. And now he's gracious enough to play with us and, and just, you know, keep us humble on where we're at. But it's amazing to watch Donald, and every time I see him at the next tournament, his level has just increased so much. Like, I don't know if you've. You follow some of that, but the commentators are saying he's got the hardest serve to return. He's the hardest hitting forehand in pickleball. And that's just amazing that he comes in in a year's time, is now being drafted for the Premier League, and, you know, he's just the talk of the town of what's going on. [00:15:46] Speaker A: Yeah, that's awesome. Well, so the good transition, I guess, into, like, what, what is let's go pickleball. Like, give us. Give us that first for if you're. If you've been under a rock in Peachtree City and you haven't go pickleball, talk to that. That listener. [00:16:01] Speaker B: So this came about because of the relationship Donald and I had. Donald wanted to. To build some courts in his backyard. Tennis courts, pickleball courts. He wanted to do some. Some stuff just locally, you know, as he's, you know, looking to do something, you know, next in his life. So he comes to me as a real estate guy say, hey, you know, what if we find some land and do something around there? And we're talking about, like, yeah, sure, we could do that. And then. Then we're like, well, we really need something where everybody can play. What if we did an indoor facility. You know, do you have an appetite for that? And he's like, well, yeah, I think so. And, and then that went down the road. And then we said, well, you know, if we do this right, we can franchise this. So we have another buddy that we, we play with. His name's Barry and his background is all in franchising his whole entire career. So we bring Barry into the loop on this and we start chit chatting and we're like, we don't see a downside at all in any of what we're talking about. So we go out and we start looking for an existing building that we can get into quickly and open. And we just couldn't find any. It either didn't have the high enough ceilings, it didn't have the pillars in the right spot. It wasn't big enough building. It was just nothing. So we're now branching outside of Peachtree City. So we're looking at Tyrone, we're looking at Noon, and we're looking in all the areas around, and we're still just not being able to find the facility. We can find a box and we can, we can put our stuff into a box, but it's not a pickleball facility, right? We would just be taking an old, you know, say an old Kmart. We looked at that a few times, three times actually, and we would, we looked at, you know, the Bed Bath and Beyond. We looked at all these different ones and we're like, you know, we could stick them in there, but the experience that the customer is going to get is just not going to be great, right? It's okay. If you're starving person and I give you some crackers, you're going to think those are the best crackers you've ever ate, right? That's not what we want to do. We want to give them a good experience. We want to build it for pickleball players and, and the rec players are just going to benefit from that. So we wanted to have tournaments. We want to have national tournaments, which means you have to have a certain number of courts, you have to have a certain ceiling height, you have to have a facility that they could come in and play at. So, so two years later, we're at the point to where, look, we just need to build it. So we, we teamed up with South Street Construction that we're building the building. We're doing 53,000 square foot, 20 indoor courts. It's, it's nothing like anyone's ever going to see. If you've been to an indoor facility where they've just come in, taken an old building or warehouse, you know, put some quartz in there and turned on the lights and started charging you. You were happy to have that. But once you play at a let's Go pickleball and you see what we provided and you see the amenities that we're doing and the programs that we're doing, you're not going to. To want to go anywhere else. [00:19:03] Speaker A: Yeah, and I've heard, I've heard of that. That's quite common now where, you know, old defunct malls and things and box stores that are going the way of the dinosaur. I've heard of pickleball coming in and kind of taking over the space. So that's. That's not good enough. Not good enough for y'all. It's. [00:19:20] Speaker B: It's not. It's not. So we, we, you know, we were happy to go. When it's raining, you're happy to go anywhere, Right? So you'll play on a basketball court with lines and a temporary net. Right. But eventually it gets to the point to where. Look, look, you know, we, we want the. We want to play outdoor courts indoors. We want, you know, we want the atmosphere to be right. We want the acoustics to be right. If you go to a lot of the. The facilities that are out there currently, you go and play and they have full courts and they're busy. You can't have a conversation with the people you're with. You can't call the score, and they hear the score. You have to use hand signals because it's so loud. So we're, we're taking an approach where we. We have acoustic engineers that are designing the acoustics in there so that you can be social with the people that you're with. Because this is a social sport. You want to be able to have conversation. You want to be able to. To call the score and they hear it. So we're taking those little things that if somebody comes and plays at let's Go pickleball, you're not going to notice unless you go and play somewhere else and unless you are used to playing somewhere else. So things like indirect lighting, our lights shine up. So when you look at the, at the ceiling, you're not going to have lights in your eyes. You're not going to have, you know, the blind spots that you have when you play. And that's, you know, could we do direct lighting like everyone else? Absolutely. But we want that elevated experience. We're doing cushion X quartz, so that means that your joints are not going to hurt like they do when you play on just regular concrete and hard, hard surfaces. So, so we're, we're putting those things in play so that our members get the highest experience that they can get. [00:21:01] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. It's, it's, I mean it sounds, I've seen the, the, the videos, the, the, the renderings and all that stuff. It looks like a really amazing place. Like not just a pickleball place to go pickleball like you said, but a place where, you know, people can go and, and, and like build community. So I kind of, when I was looking, I'm like this be a place like you just go hang out and whether you're playing pickleball or not, kind of that. [00:21:27] Speaker B: Absolutely. So we have an observation deck, 1500 square foot that's built in the middle so you can see all 20 courts from the observation deck. So we have televisions, we even watch pickleball. You can watch sporting events, you can come over and just hang out and see what's going on. So we expect Donald and all of his pro friends coming over and practicing every day so people can just come and watch pro level play or pro level practice and drills. And you know, that's, that's a huge benefit, right? If you're a pickleballer, you, you love pickleball, you, you watch it, right? So if you can see it live, that's even better. And you know, it's a community. So, so we're building events, we're building programs so that people want to just be there all the time. So we're, we're also working in, you know, I said it's 53,000 square feet. We're actually working on an additional 10,000 square feet where we're going to add additional services. So we're talking about adding not only another digital pickleball court where you can hit off of a wall, it's a digital version of hitting off the wall with targets. But we're going to have two padel courts and then we're also going to have a fitness area where people can come and work out if they want to. But in addition, we're like, hey look, we're going to have pickleball coaches. Why don't we have other coaches? Why don't we have athletic coaches? Why don't we have wellness coaches? Why don't we have nutrition coach? Why don't we have a chiropractor come in? Or an acupuncturist, massage therapy, cold therapy, cryotherapy. So we're going to build this area or this business so that people that are taking and spending money on those services outside, we're going to be a turnkey place for them. [00:23:16] Speaker A: Wow. Yeah, I didn't know that. That's pretty. [00:23:18] Speaker B: Yeah, that's all brand new, so that's awesome. You're the first. You're the first to actually. [00:23:24] Speaker A: Yeah, that's amazing. So, Don, I got a question for you. Is this. I imagine like this came about because you saw a need like in, in your world in professional pickleball, is there not a lot of places like this? And this is, you know, what do I pick? What are other professional pickleball players saying about it? [00:23:43] Speaker C: Yeah, no, there aren't. And it rains so much and we want to get practice in. So a lot of times when I'm getting ready for a tournament, depending on the weather, I don't get to practice for two or three days and, you know, that's just not good enough for me. So this is going to be great to be able to all the time know I can get practice a place and home for a lot of the top players to come and play, which, which is awesome. And it's just not enough. And on the side, when I talk to the guys, even the top guys at the PPA or any pro, they want pickleball dedicated places to play in clubs. And we just don't have that because a lot of times we're repurposing a tennis facility or tennis courts. But to have pickleball specific courts is going to be awesome. And a facility where you can go and have all the proper amenities that host a tournament. And I feel like it's, it's real and it's a legit thing. It's. It's awesome. So that's what let's go is going to be. And I'm super excited about it. [00:24:33] Speaker A: Yeah, a lot of people are excited about it, that's for sure. So it kind of brings me to my next question. Like you're seeing even in, in subdivisions and communities like their, their tennis courts, they're repainting pickleball lines on it and, and making pickleball. So what, like, where do you think that, like this, this. It's almost like a craze, like a, it's like the, the newest sport, like really rapidly getting more and more popular. Like where, where do you think that's come from? [00:25:02] Speaker C: Man, I think it's so cool because I. It's. It's one of the few sports like a grandmother can go out there and kick her like grandson's butt on the court and enjoy it where like different age groups can play together. Most athletic sports I know, at least for tennis, you know, I can't go out there and have fun and really play with my mom or dad seriously or any type of way because they just can't. It's, it's a lot more physical. So it becomes like a young person sport. But this one again, I go back to playing with Joe and Rich and Barry and the start, they're a lot better than me at the start. Doesn't matter how fast I can run or how high I could Joe or any of those things. It's a skill based thing in an arena that everyone can play and be competitive and have fun. And I've played with friends who are beginners and I go out there and they get really competitive and want to win because you can instantly be somewhat successful. It's like a, the learning curve is short, it's not that hard, but it takes a long time to master. So I think anyone can like have fun playing it. And I just think it's such a community building and family type sport. [00:26:00] Speaker A: Yeah, excellent. I think Joe, I think he sort of called you old in that. [00:26:06] Speaker B: I play senior, I play senior. [00:26:08] Speaker A: But it is, but it's not just. And I heard that too when I, when I first learned of pickleball, like there was a kind of a feeling that it was like for older people and. But it's really not. I mean I see a lot of, a lot of people. I mean, I guess I don't, I guess I'm getting old, but I don't consider myself old. A lot of people my age are playing and I see a lot of younger people playing. So it's like, it's not just for old people for sure. [00:26:33] Speaker B: Right. And it's, it's an easy game to play. Like you can pick it up really fast and be playing with within minutes. Right. Of this. But it's a hard sport to master. Right. So. So if you want to cross over into the sports side of it and really get into the chess match and the proper form and the high level play, it's not that easy to do. So the game side of it is great for everybody. And what we're seeing is we're seeing the younger kids and the younger players changing the game. They're coming out by the droves and they're getting into it. And what's really cool is that the colleges are starting to offer scholarships. So that means that if you can get a scholarship for pickleball to college, then that means that the high schools are going to start having teams and they're going to start having clubs and that's going to filter down into the middle schools. And you know, we're already working with, with them to, to start helping them form their teams and their clubs. And you know, we want them to, to use our facility as part of that. And then that'll turn into traveling teams and that'll turn into, you know, just a whole youth side of pickleball. [00:27:46] Speaker A: Yeah. College scholarships. I'm, I've been my youngest. I've been trying to get her in a golf. [00:27:52] Speaker B: Oh, go for pickleball, man. Way easier. [00:27:57] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely. Yeah. [00:27:59] Speaker B: So, but I think there's something that, you know, the, the PPA does a college tournament, right? So they, and I think they send. There was like 32 different schools that sentence recently to, to the PPA. So the PPA is already, you know, teamed up to, to do college tournaments. So you're seeing, you know, them, them just get better and better at each time that they come out. So we're going to see this switch from what's considered an old person sport to. It's not an old person sport. It's. It's just a fun sport for everyone. [00:28:31] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. And that. So besides this, this like state of the art, kind of innovative, not kind of innovative, innovative facility, like, where do you see that? Where's the future of pickleball going? [00:28:44] Speaker B: So pickleball, I think, is still in its infancy stage. It's still kind of the wild west that's going out there. We definitely don't have enough courts. Even with our facility coming in. You know, even with the, the announcement of the, the city wanting to do, do more courts as well. We welcome that because we think the more courts that are out there, that means the more people are going to fall in love with this sport. And when it rains, they can't play on the outdoor court. Right. So when it's, you know, six months out of the year, when it's cold or hot, you know, people want to be in a nice, controlled, climate controlled facility. And if we're, we're doing our job and we've got events going on all the time, whether it's round robins, it's ladders, it's, you know, king of the court, it's open play, it's, you know, you name it. We got exhibitions going on with pros, we got academies going on. You know, it's, we're going to be the place to be. [00:29:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Now, what does a membership look like? It's, it's because I've heard a lot of, like, pros are coming to play like this, so this could be intimidating for someone like me who hasn't really. [00:29:48] Speaker B: Well, we have plenty of courts, so we're, we're going to have courts designated for different levels of play. So when you come in, you're going to know exactly where you can go and be competitive. And if you want to step out of that comfort zone and step up to the next level and give it a shot, you're going to know where to go for that as well. So, yeah, it'll. It'll be really easy to, to, to make friends, to try different levels, to, to get involved in. In those types of events. So, yeah, the pros will be playing there as well, and you'll be able to spot them immediately because there'll be crowds around the court watching them. But, you know, we've even designed a couple courts where there's like a little lounge on the back end of it, so, you know, people can rent those courts and have little parties and, you know, not have to leave the court. But yeah, so. So the sport, I think, is just going to continue to grow, and as it, it hooks into the younger people, the younger kids, you're going to see a big explosion from that, and you're going to see this really start becoming more mainstream. You're already seeing it on. On tv. You're already seeing it on. You know, some of the channels out there are covering the Sunday finales, but I think you're going to start seeing more and more of it because it's like Donald said, it crosses over all age groups. So you can enjoy it at 80 years old, 90 years old, you can enjoy it at 8 years old, and it's just a very welcoming sport. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Yeah. What I'm hearing for sure is that it's a way for. We can get some fitness in and at the same time we can, like, enjoy our community and socialize. [00:31:32] Speaker B: Well, did you know that there's a study that came out that said that people who play pickleball or racket sport or paddle sport live 15 years longer? [00:31:41] Speaker A: Really? [00:31:41] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:42] Speaker A: Yes. I did not know that. That's amazing. I'm gonna have to get a pickleball racket. [00:31:50] Speaker B: Make sure you call it a paddle, though. [00:31:52] Speaker A: Sorry. Yeah, see, I'm showing my, my ignorance here. With, with it, you'll have a pro shop and all that stuff is. [00:32:01] Speaker B: We will. So we'll. We'll offer, you know, the ability that you can come in and try a paddle out, which, you know, nowadays you have to have it shipped to you 30 day window type deal so you can just come out, try some paddles. We're going to have groups that provide not only the equipment, but they'll sponsor our facilities as well. They'll sponsor events. So we'll have, you know, paddle events where you'll come out and everybody will play with the same paddle. And you know, at the end we'll, we'll auction them off for charity and you know, we'll do a lot of charitable programming that goes on. So that's one of the big things Donald wanted to make sure when we got involved in all this is that, you know, we're going to, to make sure that we're taking care of charities. [00:32:45] Speaker A: Yeah, that's great. Yeah, it truly. And when before we hit record on this, you know, I, I did ask you all like, what's the one thing you want to get across? And your, your first response without hesitation was community and building community. Now you're going to give back to the community. It's like, it's nice to be like a good, I mean you could come in and open a business and just, you know, just be there. But what I'm hearing from you all and the conversations I've had with you, Joe, it's, it's obvious that you're, you love Petrie City and you, and you're excited to bring pickleball to this level, to, to the community. So. [00:33:21] Speaker B: And if I could just add to that, just to kind of reemphasize that the first thing we did when we formed this company was we made a strategic partnership with the PTC Fayette Pickleball Club because they don't have a place to call home. And they've been moving, moving around the community. They've gone to, to the Flat Creek courts and they can't do it there anymore. And they, they moved to. They can't do it with the PTC courts. They can't. So they moved around. Right. They've got one of the largest clubs in the, in the state of Georgia. So I was one of the founding members of that 501c3. So we helped get them established and I want to see them be around for as, you know, forever if possible. So our first thing was to make a strategic partnership with them. And we are the home of the PTC Fayette Pickleball Club. We have said your members are going to be able to Call this home. They're going to be able to help us do the free. And we're going to do free clinics. So we're going to do what we call one on one and 201 clinics. So if you've never picked up a paddle, you can come out and do one of those clinics for free. And it's going to be put on by the PTC pickleball Club. And same thing with the next level. And we, we're going to involve them in a lot of the stuff we do, a lot of the charities that they do, we're going to be part of. And they can now call let's Go Pickleball home. [00:34:47] Speaker A: That's great. I didn't know that about that. They didn't. That must be a rough feeling. Is when you're part of a club and you don't really have a place that you can call home and go to. That's cool. Yeah, I love it, man. That's. This is. Well, this has been fun. I've learned a lot, for sure. I mean, is there, is there anything that I didn't ask you about that I feel like it's such a new thing that I'm not sure, like what questions I should ask you about the facility and all that. Is there, is there anything that we left out today? [00:35:14] Speaker B: Well, just know that everything that we're putting in the facility is top notch. It's, it's, you know, we have research, we have looked at what the industry is. We have looked at what the pros want to play with. We've looked at, you know, what is the top tier for pickleball, and that is what we're putting in our facility. And when you look at our pricing compared to everyone else, it's. It's basically the same. So why would you want to play anywhere else? [00:35:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I hear you. Right? [00:35:46] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:35:47] Speaker A: Cushioned courts. I mean, you had me at cushioned courts for sure. Well, cool. Well, thanks so much, Donald. Thanks so much. I know you, you're a busy guy out there playing pro and all that and. [00:36:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I can't wait to see him on the MLP. Right? [00:36:04] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:36:04] Speaker B: You got to pick number 16. He's in the Premier League. Let's go. [00:36:08] Speaker C: Drafted. Nice. Let's go. Yeah. [00:36:11] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah. Where. So where can we watch what channels is it on? Is there a specific network that we can catch pickleball on? Pro pickleball? [00:36:20] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. So pickleball TV. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Okay. [00:36:25] Speaker B: There's also a YouTube channel for the MLP and for the PPA. So that's, that's real good to check on. And they post a lot of the. The footage up there when they're not streaming live as well. But, yeah, every weekend you can, you can find stuff out there. So, Donald, you're coming up. You're playing this weekend, right? [00:36:44] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm playing in Dallas this coming week. And yeah, if you have like a Samsung TV, pickleball TVs on there, and if you have Amazon prime prime video, the Pickleball TV is just a added addition that you can watch. [00:36:57] Speaker A: Yep, perfect. [00:36:58] Speaker B: I think it's channel 2444 on pickleball or on Samsung. [00:37:02] Speaker A: Okay. [00:37:02] Speaker C: Oh, nice. [00:37:05] Speaker B: Because I, I'm watching it all the. [00:37:06] Speaker A: Time, so that's perfect. I am a Samsung guy. I don't like to say that out loud too much as all the iPhone users come come after me. [00:37:15] Speaker B: I like my iPhone, but my TVs are. [00:37:18] Speaker A: Yeah, cool. All right, gentlemen. Well, I can't wait. I'm going to be down there later. I'm going to probably snap a couple pictures now that you have walls and you put a roof on there. [00:37:28] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:37:29] Speaker A: So if you're. If you're listening, go over to YouTube and check out. I'll have. I'll have pictures of the. Of where it's being built. Nothing complete yet, but I'll have links to. Let's go Pickleball website. There's artist renderings and videos there to take a look. When. When's completion? [00:37:47] Speaker B: We're pushing, so I. It's summer right now, right. So we had. We had some snow delays, we had some rain, so they're moving quick, but. But we're pushing. I'd love to see us get open in July, but. Yeah. [00:38:00] Speaker A: Yeah, just in time for the. The heat and humidity. We're all going to want to be inside. [00:38:05] Speaker C: Yeah, exactly. [00:38:06] Speaker A: Cool. Is there any. [00:38:07] Speaker B: Once we open up, I hear that it's going to rain, like, for the next six years every day. [00:38:12] Speaker A: Nice. Well, I like to. I like to run. That's my sport. That's my. I grew up doing that. So not rain every day. Maybe every other day. [00:38:21] Speaker B: Maybe every other day. [00:38:23] Speaker A: Compromise. [00:38:23] Speaker B: We could take every other day. [00:38:25] Speaker A: Where else can we find you? Just. Is the. The website the best place to go? [00:38:29] Speaker B: Website's great place to go. You know, we're on Facebook, we're on Instagram, so, you know, check us out. We have a weekly newsletter that comes out. Great information. It's got a lot of tips. It's very well put together. We're real happy with our social media presence. And, you know, check us out and. And keep an eye on that and you'll get the latest information. [00:38:52] Speaker A: Sounds good. I'm gonna put all the links in the show notes. And thanks, gentlemen. This was fun. [00:38:57] Speaker B: Thanks, C.J. [00:38:58] Speaker C: Thanks. Appreciate it. [00:39:01] Speaker A: Thank you for joining us today on Peach Tree City Radio.
